Dear Parent/Carer,

End of Term Letter – Christmas 2025

I’m delighted to share our newly styled newsletter, filled with news and highlights from the past term. I’m incredibly proud of the many events, opportunities and successes our Copley community has enjoyed. Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping us provide the very best for our students.

If you haven’t already, I’d love for you to take a look at our Twitter and Facebook pages too. They offer a wonderful glimpse into everyday life at Copley Academy and all the fantastic things happening across our school.

Please read through the information below so you are fully informed about the end of this term, the start back after the holiday, and other useful messages.

Final Day Arrangements

The end of term for Copley Academy is Thursday 18th December 2025. The Academy Day will be a normal day apart from students in Years 10 and 11 who will finish after the pantomime at 1.30pm. Years 7, 8 and 9 will finish at the normal time of 3pm. Students will be expected to wear full school unform.

Adverse Weather

Over the next couple of months, the weather will be cold, please ensure your child brings a coat to school with them every day.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that during periods of adverse weather such as snowfall, we will keep parents/carers updated of any disruption to the Academy opening arrangements on our website, by text message and our social media channels.

Return Information

Students will return to the Academy on Tuesday 6th January 2025. Students will be expected to return at the normal time and be in their Tutor Room by 8.40am. Please ensure your child arrives in full uniform with the correct equipment.

The student entrance opens daily at 8.00am and students can access a free breakfast.

Attendance

Please can I take this opportunity to ask you for your support in improving whole school attendance and punctuality. There is a legal obligation that Parents and Carers ensure that students attend school and that they are on time. The impact upon children’s education through lost learning is huge, it is vital that we make every school minute count. I urge you to ensure that your child is in the Academy on time every day to prevent anyone falling behind with their learning.

Friday 23rd January – Progress Day

Our second Progress Day of the academic year will take place on Friday, 23rd January. On this day, students will not be expected to attend normal lessons. However, parents and carers of Year 8 and Year 10 students will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s form tutor in the afternoon. Further details will be provided during the first week back. Other students are not required to attend school on this day.

Additional INSET Day Friday February 13th 2025
